BONNIE'S BIRTHDAY - TRADITIONAL FAMILY LUNCH

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY FAVORITE WIFE ---

MY 1ST WIFE AND ALSO MY TROPHY WIFE."

~Ron

"I bought you an awesome bottle of wine for your birthday.

It tasted wonderful.

I thought about you the entire time."

Love those glasses!

For many years, going back to when our family all still lived in the family home on Alta Vista in Monrovia, we have had a family lunch or dinner for the birthday of each family member. We have always asked each of the girls where and when they wanted to go - hopefully a favorite place where they would enjoy the outing. Bonnie and I usually decided what we wanted to do and then coordinated that with the girls, hoping they didn't have conflicts. As the family grew we have continued the tradition with sons-in-law and grandchildren attending (and now husbands of grandchildren).

Bonnie's birthday is June 1st and this year she decided to have the family gather on Sunday, June 3rd for lunch at our home. I agreed to prepare lunch -- it will be one of my favorite meals that I pick up from Panda Express. Increasingly in recent years it has been difficult to get the full family together. Our girls all have jobs, we have two grandchildren living out of town, and the others are busy and many times have understandable conflicts. This year for Bonnie's birthday there were seven of us for lunch - the original Hadfield family (i.e. Bonnie and I, Jenny, Tracy & Heather) plus Curran and Griffin.

It was a beautiful day but a little too warm to sit outside on the patio. Everyone came to the house around noontime and we stayed inside where it was nice and cool. This made visiting, and the meal, more comfortable. The group is shown below around the dining room table having desert. We picked up a birthday cake from Cold Stone -- Cookies & Cream decorated with Oreo cookies -- yummy!

Supplemental Celebrations: Bonnie's actual birthday was Friday June 1st. To our delight, Bekah called Bonnie that day and said she was working close to Monrovia and would like to wish her Happy Birthday at lunch. We met her at Rudy's Mexican Restaurant and had a fun visit during lunch.

Later that evening, Bonnie and I sneaked out for another birthday celebration at The Derby Restaurant in Arcadia, one of our local favorites. After a great salmon dinner, the restaurant served us complimentary Baked Alaska to celebrate Bonnie's birthday.

My favorite four girls have always had fun doing things together. Below are a few photos of them, plus a few singles of Bonnie.
